Dear Parents and Caregivers
Today's temporary school story is about what are the temporary school arrangements.
Classes: All classes and teachers remain the same. Stage 3 stay in the same classrooms in the same buildings. Stage 2 classes move into the new demountables in the row near the chickens. Stage 1 classes move into the new buildings on either side of the office. For Kinder half of Kinder remain where they are, and the other half move into the classrooms near the office.
The Office: The office is in the center of the new temporary school. Everyone will access the office from the new Gate 4. Gate 4 has a pathway directly to the office with an excellent ramp system for those that need it. There is a reception area and interview room in the office. Families will no longer have to wait outside.
The Library: For the first time in the school's history, we will have a purpose-built library. The library is along the walkway from the office. All student's lessons for library will continue as normal.
Special Programs: Darcy Road runs three Special programs for students. One is for students who have just arrived in the country and don't speak English. The second is for students who may have had their learning affected by COVID. We also run a program for refugee students. These programs will operate out of one classroom at the front of the school.
The Playground: We will see exactly what the playground will look like when the fences and the builders have gone. We do know that our playground will be in 6 areas of the school. Some parts of our new playground were previously out of bounds and our students need to learn to play in these areas. All areas of the playground will be supervised by teachers.
The toilets: The current toilets remain while we are in the temporary school. They are currently being repaired and updated to get us through the next two years. All classrooms and playground have pathways to the toilets. On the first day of school all students will be trained on how to get to the toilets from their classroom and playground.
The Hall: The hall remains the same and we will have the same access to the hall while we are in the temporary school. Before and After School Care will continue to use the hall while we are in the temporary school. When we move into the new school the hall will become part of Part B of our new school build and it will be renovated and extended.
Our next story today will be about morning drop off and afternoon pickup.
I hope this information is a help to our community.
Kind regards
