Dear Parents and Caregivers
Our story for Temporary School Information Number 6 is to answer some questions we have been asked by families.
Will my child's class change? No. All classes remain as they are. At Darcy Road our students are taught by more than one teacher. They are taught by a cluster of teachers. We live by the motto " All students are known, valued and cared for by more than one teacher." These cluster groups remain the same.
Will my child have the same teacher? Yes. All students will have the same teacher for English and the same teacher for Maths. They will have the same teachers that they have had all year for all their subjects.
Will my children have the same extra curricula activity they have had before? Yes. Library, School House activities, Peer Support, Clubs, Debating, Chess, Public Speaking, Dance, Choir, Hindi lessons, Sports in School - SISA - all remain the same.
Will the playground be the same? No. A lot of the playground will be lost due to the new school building works. However, we are a lucky school as we already have a substantial playground. It will be smaller but there is still plenty of space for students to play. Playground activities will continue. There are 6 distinct areas of playground. All areas of the playground will be supervised by teachers.
What toilets will my child use? Students will use the same toilets they have always used. There are new pathways connecting the classrooms to the toilets. On Monday morning all students will be shown the new pathways and how to get to the toilets. The toilets are about to have work done on them to clean them and update them to use for the next two years.
How will I drop off and pick up my child? Please read Temporary School Information Number 4 for all drop off and pick up information.
Can I drive and park in Olive Street. No!! Olive Street will now become even busier than before. While the new school is being built the front of the school will face Olive Street. Please do not drive and park in Olive Street.
Please email the school if you have any other questions about our new arrangements for the temporary school. We are keen to know what you need us to tell you.
I hope this information continues to be a help to our families.
Kind regards
Trudy Hopkins
