Dear Parents and Caregivers
Next week at the start of the school term Darcy Road Public School moves into the temporary school. As I write the removalists are moving all the school furniture and equipment into the temporary school. This week I will be sending our community a series of stories to explain everything parents need to know about the temporary school.
Why are we moving into a temporary school?
The development of Darcy Road Public School is part of the NSW Government plan to develop Western Sydney and Parramatta. Our school population has been growing along with the housing development in our school's enrolment area. Our school was built was 1955 to house 250 students. That is no longer the case.
Infrastructure NSW is now ready to demolish the old school and rebuild a brand-new school. To be able to demolish the old school and build the new one, Darcy Road Public School needed to be accommodated in a temporary school. Hence why the school is moving into the temporary school.
Where will the temporary school be located?
If you have been to school this last term you will have seen that the temporary school is located on the school oval. Four demountables from the Kindy area remain as do the demountables that house Stage 3. The school hall and the toilets also remain for the temporary school.
The school won't be going anywhere else. Everything about school life remains the same. We just do it all in a different location.
All families will bring their children to school as normal next Monday 9th October. I can't wait to see everyone and welcome our beautiful students to their new temporary school.
I hope this information is a help to our community.
Kind regards
Trudy Hopkins
